Sugar-free Diet is Killing You
There is no better time to talk about sugar or in this case sugar-free than the day after Halloween. Many people as well as kids over indulge with sugar, and those that think they are being wise by going sugar-free will be sadly disappointed. Too much sugar even if it's from raw, organic fruit and/or natural sugar sources needs to be used in moderation.
When certain food breakthroughs occur there has been a raise in health challenges with the population. We have seen this with the pasteurization of milk, the onset of the fast food industry, genetically modified foods, and with the introduction of the sugar-free world of aspartame. As a quick note since the pasteurization of milk - in the countries that consume the highest quantities of milk they have the highest rate of arthritis, osteoporosis and hip replacements. The fast food industry began the decline in the nutrients within the soils and the modification of certain plant seeds (GMO) thus our bodies lacking the necessary nutrients needed to handle the needs of cells to fight disease. (This list is really long.)
This isn't about picking on companies or science. Some of the decisions that people make are stupid, but the real question is: do we make corrections when stupidity is recognized? Or do we ignore it and pretend it's not true? If I may steal a line from Forrest Gump, "Momma says, stupid is what stupid does."
So moving along, yes, aspartame was in the news 20 years ago, and it continues to be relevant today. Why? Because aspartame is still packaged and sold under the name of equal and nutrasweet, plus it is in a surprising number of foods and drinks that we don't know because it is not always listed on the label. Just know if it states sugar free, beware because this silent gremlin is present. A website that will keep you posted more than most on the subject of the "diet" and sugar-free world is www.dorway.com.
Here's a SHORT list of some of the foods that aspartame is in: children's vitamins, FROZEN ICE, breath mints, cereals, protein drinks, yogurt, MAPLE SYRUP, bottled teas, jams and jellies, FLAVORED WATERS, candy, and the list goes on and on. A handful of brave doctors noted an increase in brain tumors after the public was introduced to the sugar-free world of aspartame. Fortunately for me I never ventured down this path since I was already beginning my journey of eating healthier.
While speaking with a friend last night, he believed the only way to avoid it (aspartame), is to eat foods that don't have labels - meaning fresh foods, nothing packaged. This may be truer than we'd like to believe. The foods, and drinks that we consume do affect our MIND TOO. What do I mean? Toxic foods create toxic thoughts, so by taking responsibility to cleanse, you are taking responsibility to cleanse body and mind. I'm sure we all would like a little less brain fog.
I had a chance to witness this with a client. He consumed diet sodas all day long because he was concerned about his weight. The more sodas he drank, the more and more mentally challenged he became. I shared with him my concerns that the diet sodas were contributing to his emotional roller coaster rides and thoughts of suicide. I asked him to try an experiment - to eliminate all sodas for 3 months. Of course, at first his cravings were too big, but he minimized his intake. Over time he was able to stop the diet sodas and his mind quieted. Humm very interesting!
What's important to note: It does not serve anyone to be mad on the company that produces the product because ultimately it is our responsibility on whether we consume it or not. If you wish to take action for yourself, go through your refrigerator and cupboard and toss out everything you have that's sugar-free. Believe it or not the companies will make decisions that better serve the people, if the people take responsibility to serve themselves consciously.
I have attached a link to the documentary film, "Sweet Misery." Throughout the movie you will find many interesting facts introduced to you. I hope that you will take the time to listen to them, weigh the facts, followed with due diligence, and then take positive action to improve you. And please share it with friends and family.
Healthy Blessings,
Beth
p.s. Sweet Misery is a great film to watch on the subject.
