Many people today are looking for some way to get extra greens into their daily diet. From the health food shelves to the Internet there are hundreds of choices in supergreens. Each one publicizing it’s the best.
Twenty plus years ago I began the green journey with Barley and Wheat grass. I soon learned that I had some allergies to grasses, so I moved towards Spirulina, Chlorella and Chlorophyll.
Anytime you take supergreens, please consume extra water otherwise you can experience some constipation as it shifts from the dried state. With anything that has been dried, it expands when moisture is drawn from the body tissues.
To put it very simply supergreens are rich in vitamins, minerals, protein and fiber.
Spirulina is a variety of fresh water, blue-green algae. It also contains a balance of amino acids while being high in protein. The Japanese recognize its health benefits, and thus the biggest consumers of spirulina. It is estimated that close 200,000 tons of spirulina is harvested each year.
Chlorella is a single cell algae that keeps fresh water ecosystems clean and healthy. It is high in magnesium, while detoxing heavy metals and other contaminates from the body. Because it is nutritionally rich the body can rebuild easily. Even the American Cancer Institute is starting to recognize its power to prevent cancer. Chlorella is rich in chlorophyll, stimulates healthy cell growth and slows aging.
Chlorophyll is what gives color to the green leafy plants, and it draws energy from the sun. Chlorophyll is similar in composition to human blood (referred to as green blood). It deodorizes the inside of the body, reducing bad breath and body odors. And it can be applied topically to clean and assist in wound care.
In one study by Virginia Commonwealth University’s R.E. Merchant and C.A. Andre in March 2001, supplementation with chlorophyll-rich chlorella was shown to reduce high blood pressure, lower LDL (“bad” cholesterol), accelerate wound healing, and improve immune function in colitis and fibromyalgia.
What is my routine? When I’m home I make a power drink each morning; its base is banana milk (recipe in previous newsletter and there is a link to a video on how to make it), 2 tablespoons of spirulina, maca and lecithin with 1-2 teaspoons of guarana and a probiotic. Throughout the day I take 30-50 chlorella tablets (250 mg. each) and 2 dropperfuls of chlorophyll by Herbs, Etc.
When I’m traveling I only consume the chlorella tablets and chlorophyll for convenience sake. The chlorophyll by Herbs, Etc. comes in a 1 or 2 ounce bottle and does not have to be refrigerated and it is small enough to go through security at the airport.
The integrity and purity in the processing of supergreens is essential to the nutritional potency that the product contains. On one final note, your intuitive eye will become stronger. Be careful you will start to see more light coming off people, plants, animals, etc.
My office does carry spirulina, chlorella and vitamineral green (a blend of algae, grasses, enzymes and probiotics).
Peace, Love and Blessings,
Beth
