Adrenals and thyroid gets hit first…cranberry sauce recipe
Boosting Your Adrenals, Handling Holiday Pressure
Once Halloween passes the holiday season has officially began. Christmas decorations go up even before Thanksgiving has arrived. And with it, comes the mixed bag of joy and stress. Everyone vows to have not just the best, but a stress-free holiday, and the rush is on. Whether it’s the rush to avoid or to get everything done before December. Either way emotions run high.
The mind begins to reel faster and faster. Am I getting the right gift for that special person in my life? Oh I don’t there’s not enough money? But I’ll figure out a way to pay for it all next year (Never mind you’re probably still paying from last year). Will everyone be on “their best behavior or is Mom going to be “PMS-ing”? Does the car need to be taken in before the long drive? Should I consider getting a smaller tree? No let’s make it bigger because it’s only once a year.
All of these thoughts and more just add to the pressure. When pressure is increased, so does stress. Then the adrenals and thyroid go into overdrive so our bodies can handle the pace. But what happens if this continues for an extended period of time is the circuits begin to overheat. When overheating occurs, then body requires more and more energy just to produce the same amount of energy as before. But as this cycle continues, it yet again takes more energy, which ultimately produces less than needed to complete the daily do’s. It’s draining just to think about it.
It’s at this moment in time that the extra drama kicks into gear because the emotions are out of control. Most of us begin our holiday season being in overdrive before it began. So how can we take responsible right now, so that we have a different outcome?
I’ve already begun by taking an herbal supplement to support my adrenals and thyroid. Two of the better supplements for the adrenals are Adrenatonic by Herbs, Etc. and the other is Adrenal Health by Gaia Herbs. Both of these can be purchased at your local health food. Both come in tinctures or pill form. And both work really well. For best results, take them for 100 days. I take 3 pills twice a day. And I’ll continue them through the holidays and for another 30 to 45 days after the holidays. Why? Because of the recovery time needed afterwards.
For the thyroid, I use Thyroid Complex through PR Labs. If you live locally, then you can purchase it through People’s Pharmacy. Or you can purchase it through my office. The cost per 60-count bottle is $19.95. I take one twice daily. Most glandular products have animal glands in them, and I prefer products without animal glands. The adrenal supplements and thyroid supplements are animal free.
This requires no additional time or dieting, which no one wants to do anyhow during the holidays. What else can we do? Play soft instrumental music while working in the house and kitchen. Turn off the television more. Take turns massaging each other’s feet. Call and spend time with those friends and family that you enjoy most. Seat outside on a blanket or chair and read. Take a walk with friends and loved ones. Rotate whose preparing dinner. Smile more often. Practice laughing for extended periods of time.
May the holiday season fill you with gratitude. May it also be a time of great blessings, peace and joy. And remember to give and receive hugs, it’s good for your health.
Peace, Love and Blessings,
Beth
Cranberry Sauce Recipe
2 cups of cranberries
2 cups of papaya (about ½ of a med. To lg. papaya)
¾ cup of dates or ½ cup of agave nectar

Put the ingredients in your blender or food processor and whirl.

It tastes great! Yum!
A Tidbit on the Color Red
Red is a primary color for Christmas. It is considered to bring joy to the holiday season. It is also the color of the root chakra and for survival. And it stimulates the senses including brain wave activity, increases heart rate, respirations and blood pressure. One thing to be aware of, it is best not to wear red or orange above your heart. It can cause health issues over periods of time.
It also increases your appetite. So enjoy red, but don’t burn too many red candles at the table.
