Iodine for Thyroid Health

Iodine is a trace mineral necessary for physical & mental development

For many years iodine deficiencies has been identified in 129 countries as being an contributing factor in public health problems, so you could say this is an global issue. I think the only country where is doesn’t seem to an issue is in Japan where they have the largest consummation of fish and seaweed.

So what is iodine? Iodine is considered an trace mineral as well as a nonmetallic chemical that is necessary for physical and mental development. It is needed for healthy function of the thyroid glands. Without sufficient iodine a person can experience serious brain fog, depression, weight gain, constipation, fatigue, hypothyroidism, type II diabetes, Hashimoto disease, prostate cancer, breast cancer, uterine cancer, ovarian cancer, and testicular cancer as well as reducing IQ level.

Pregnant women with low iodine levels will increase the chance of the child having mental retardation. If you go to govmed.org, you will find studies over 2 million studies – over 4,700 are studies relating to damaging effects of iodine deficiency.

Did you know that iodine kills 90% of bacterias within 90 seconds of contact? That’s why topically iodine was in our grandparents medicine cabinets and applied to our cuts.
DO NOT INGEST TOPICAL SOLUTIONS BECAUSE IT’S NOT SAFE. Many health care practitioners (this includes me) and doctors have had there clients/patients apply topical iodine daily to increase their iodine intake. Even though this is very healthful; it’s better if the iodine can be taken internally.

Can we obtain iodine through the foods we eat? Absolutely! Some the foods such as the various seaweeds, fish, asparagus, bee pollen, beets, cabbage, garlic, onions and whole wheat to name just a few. Does this really supply the body will all the iodine it needs? NO! Why? Because most people are not going to eat these foods day-in and day-out, nor will they eat the quantity necessary to reach sufficient levels of improvement.

Natural News’ website has a wonderful article, “The End of Antibiotics and The Rise of Iodine as an Effective Alternative.” In it Dr. David Derry states, “Iodine is by far the best antibiotic, antiviral and antiseptic of all time.” You can also find some great information through Dr. Guy Abraham that conducted studies which resulted in reversal of fibrocystic breasts, migraines disappearing and diabetics requiring less insulin.

There are just a handful of companies that have a safe iodine that can be ingested. And MagNascent Iodine that is in a nascent state – safe form of iodine that can be taken orally. Through much due diligence it is the iodine that I have begun carrying in my office as of this week. Each bottle is just $30 and is at a 2% iodine level. I’m even thinking about adding it to my dog’s water too.

Oh one more thing, if you take selenium each day, you get faster action out of your iodine. If you don’t know it, the best source of selenium is through Brazil Nuts – eat 6-8 nuts a day. In the next newsletter I’ll talk about the importance of selenium.

Healthy Blessings,

Beth
