Article: Hormone Support – Ashwagandha

As I began last newsletter, there are many adaptogenic herbs, and today I’m taking some time to enlighten us about Ashwagandha. An adaptogen shields our body from stress. Which is excellent since stress takes its toll on both the thyroid and adrenals.

Ashwagandha’s main benefit is boosting our immune system, and it helps our body with the production of hormone in the thyroid. Webmd.com also acknowledges this and suggests that if you are taking any medication for the thyroid don’t take ashwagandha along with it because you might have too much hormone production going on. So even though they don’t want to give full credit to the benefit of herbs, they make an acknowledgement of it working! Yea!

This amazing herb has been used for centuries in Ayurveda medicine and provides the body with four antioxidants: glutathione, peroxidase, catalase and superoxide dismutase. What this means at the basic level is that it slows down the aging process and increases oxygen to the muscle, which is great for athletes. How? By keeping the body clear of free radicals, reducing inflammation thus the cells have more energy.

If your hubby has a low sperm count, it will raise it! Hallelujah! Because there has been an increase in lower sperm counts. So if you’re trying to get pregnant, have your man take ashwaganda. Disclaimer alert: Of course, consult your physician first.

With each article we are building a power drink recipe for boosting and balancing hormones. Please stay tuned and read each one.
